Grace to you and peace from God.
This is the sentence that Paul uses to open his letter to the people of Galatia.
Then he calls on them to remember the good news he taught them about Jesus.
To pray faithfully demands that we remember the relationship we have with God through Jesus Christ, which is the foundation for all prayer.
Memorial Day is a call to remembrance.
I remember sacrifice and loss, in times of war and in times of peace.
I often pray for the families of the military on Memorial weekend. They live with hope of making the world better through service, and with fear for their beloved’s safety.
I remember with gratitude those who have offered their lives to keep me safe.
I also pray for the families of young people lost to gun violence, remembering that some lives were not offered of their own accord.
I remember that we are connected through our common humanity, and I pray fervently for grace and peace for all of us.
